Different Grooming Cuts For Poodles
There are several different grooming cuts for Poodles.
What ever cut you choose, remember that hair does grow back and
that the same cut can look different on different colors of
poodles.
Different Grooming Cuts For
Poodles:
Continental Cut
Retriever Cut
Lamb Cut
Teddy Bear Cut
Beware that different cuts mean different things to different
groomers depending on what region of the country you are from
so be sure you are both on the same page.
It is also a good idea to cut out pictures from magazines of
interesting poodle cuts that you can show your groomer.
To Start Grooming Your Poodle:
Brush out the coat first. Most people new to grooming
don’t realize how dense poodle hair is and how it mats.
This is why for longer haired Poodles daily brushing is a
must.
Shed hair gets caught up in the living hair forming a huge
mat, and this can also lead to skin problems if not
removed.
I like to give a bath after brushing out the dog and drying
them well. A clean and dry coat really makes the hair
softer and easier to brush and cut.
Decide on Your Grooming Cut:
If your poodle is very active and goes outside a lot a
shorter lower maintenance cut is a must. But if your
poodle is mostly inside you can get away with a longer
trim. Remember if you make a mistake the hair will grow
back.
You can even be created and give your poodle a Mohawk, play
around to find a style you love.
Ears and Nails:
Some people get so caught up in grooming the coat they
forget about trimming the nails and ears. This only take
a few minutes but gives a nice finish.
Summary:
Different grooming cuts for poodles appear
different on different colored poodles, and also remember they
might actually mean different things to different
groomers. So before entrusting your poodle to a groomer
make sure you are both on the same page.
