Poodle Labrador Mix

A Poodle Labrador mix, or a Labradoodle is one of the more highly publicized dog mixes that have been out there.  The reason is when they were first crossed, the first puppy was hypoallergenic and did not shed, and it was perfect for allergy sufferers.

The media really picked up on this Poodle Labrador mix, claiming it was the best thing to happen to pets.  But the problem was only a few puppies that have come from this cross have ever been hypoallergenic.

This is the problem when you cross dog breeds and there is a random recombination of their genes.  You never know what you are going to get.

A Poodle Labrador mix can come in many colors.  The colors depend on what color genes the parents have.  From all black, to white, to yellow, to gray, there are lots of different possibilities.

The coat can be straight, but it is usually more of a poodle coat that is wavy and curly.

These dogs do require some regular grooming to prevent matting of the coat.

These dogs have great personalities, because labs and poodles are great dogs to get along with and they are easy to train because both breeds are intelligent.
