And Poodle Temperament

The poodle personality is a great one.  Poodles have a very kind and loving temperament.  Poodles also have one of the highest if not the highest intelligence of all dog breeds.

Poodles originated in Germany, but were perfected in France.  The original purpose of these dogs were for hunting.  Due to the large size the Standard poodle, it made a great and agile hunter.

Thanks to selective breeding by hunters, the poodle is a great hunter and very intelligent, in fact even in miniature and toy poodles you might seem some instinct to hunt which is part of the poodle personality.

Poodles also have a great sense of smell, which is why they were also used as truffle hunters in France.  Truffles are a rare fungus that grows under tree roots.  Due to its rarity, the fungus is highly prized and expensive. 

French royalty trained poodles to find truffles for them, which is an amazing feat considering the truffles are usually buried under tree stumps.

Due to their high intelligence poodles are very easy to train.  Because of this, poodles have played vital roles as circus acts for over two hundred years. 

In fact trained poodles have even entertained kings and queens of France in their royal courts.  King Louis XVI and Queen Anne were reported entertained by poodles in their royal courts.

The Toy poodle in particular is known for its great intelligence and quick learning ability.  It is known worldwide as a "trick dog". 

The great part of the poodle personality is that they also get along great with children.  Poodles and children usually have not trouble coexisting in the same house.

As you can see the poodle personality is a great one.  Highly intelligent and gets along great with children.

Many people underestimate the poodle, but it is a great hunter and very athletic dog.  Don't let the fancy haircuts fool you.
