Poodle Pet Insurance
Buying Poodle Insurance
Poodle pet insurance is growing in popularity. Due to
the increasing costs of purchasing and maintaining show
poodles, poodle insurance is making more and more financial
sense.
Before you buy any poodle pet insurance it is important that
you examine several plans and options first. Pet
insurance is a big investment. If you are going to pay
$50 a month, 12 months a year, for the next 10 years, you had
better make sure you are getting your money's worth.
Poodle are prone to several severe health conditions.
These include diseases like Addison's disease, gastric
dilatation volvulus (GDV), hyper thyroidism, hypothyroidism,
epilepsy, and sebaceous adenitis to name a few.
With just the cost of a GDV surgery running several
thousands of dollars, poodle pet insurance may well be worth
paying the monthly expenses for.
But remember that pet insurance companies make their money
on the fact that most poodles are generally healthy and rarely
have any problems.
So the decision on whether to get poodle pet insurance comes
down to you. The best way to go is to have your own pet
emergency fund, which is much better than pet insurance.
In fact most pet insurance companies acknowledge the fact
that having a pet savings plan is the better way to go.
Sadly most people don't do this because the don't have the
resolve to regularly contribute to a pet savings plan.
So, if you do opt for poodle pet insurance make sure
you know exactly what you are paying for, and if you don't
understand make sure the insurance agent helps you to
understand.
After all, with all the options, like wellness
care, routine care, emergency care, waiting periods,
etc, it can be confusing.
Waiting periods were put into place to protect pet
insurance companies from having to pay for dogs that are
already sick. After all, many people don't consider pet
insurance until they have a sick dog and are facing large
veterinary bills.
Waiting periods can work against you because if your poodle
puppy had diarrhea during the waiting period for your new
policy, it would be classified as a pre-existing condition
and likely not covered.
In fact in your poodle had diarrhea again in the
next 6 months it is likely still not covered by pet
insurance because they could label it as a pre-existing
condition.
So when you go shopping for insurance for your poodle keep
all these issues in the back of your mind. It is your
money so spend it wisely.
Remember, poodle pet insurance should provide a good value
for the money, not simply just give you piece of
mind.
