Types Of Poodles
Standard, Miniature, and Toy Poodle
3 Types of poodles are all that the American Kennel Club
acknowledges. There is only one breed of poodle, but
three different sizes specified, standard, miniature, and toy
poodle.
Any other variation of poodles is either not acknowledge by
the AKC or is a crossbreed.
Standard Poodles
These types of poodles must stand over 15 inches tall at the
shoulder
Miniature poodles
These types of poodles must stand over 10 inches tall at the
shoulder, but less than 15 inches.
Miniature Poodles
These types of poodles must not stand over 10 inches tall at
the shoulder.
Standard Royal, Teacup, and Tiny Teacup
Poodles
There are terms made up by breeders for marketing purposes
only and are not new types of poodles.
Poodle Crossbreeds
There are a few poodle crossbreeds out there, but realize
these are not new breeds, merely crossbreeds, and calling them
hybrids is not correct. A hybrid is a mating between two
different species.
Some poodle crossbreeds are Cockapoos, Spoodles,
Goldendoodle, and Labradoodle.
So in summary when researching types of poodles, realize
there are only really three.
